Building Management System, or Building Automation System, is a three word phrase we take for granted at All BMS.

We are conscious though, that outside our industry, it may mean very little in layperson terms.

Put simply, a building management system is a computer-based control system installed in buildings that controls and monitors the building’s mechanical and electrical equipment such as ventilation, lighting, power systems, fire systems, and security systems.

In addition to controlling the building’s internal environment, BMS systems are sometimes linked to access control (turnstiles and access doors controlling who is allowed access and egress to the building) or other security systems such as closed-circuit television (CCTV) and motion detectors.

Fire alarm systems and elevators are also sometimes linked to a BMS for monitoring.

In case a fire is detected then only the fire alarm panel could close dampers in the ventilation system to stop smoke spreading, shut down air handlers, start smoke evacuation fans, and send all the elevators to the ground floor and park them to prevent people from using them.

All BMS specialise in 4 areas of Building Management Systems, summarised under Services.

These are: projects, maintenance, energy and smart homes.

We have an experienced and established team

As commercial and residential behaviours change, so does Building Management.

The Coronavirus pandemic has transformed working practices – but what hasn’t changed, and instead intensified is demand for BMS.

If local lockdowns occur and your team are compelled to work from home, your energy demands will inevitably alter and we can help you adjust.

We know from speaking with other professionals that the residential sector has changed.

Firstly, many workers, marooned at home, need smart home technology to work with. Bespoke home offices are being created in spare bedrooms, garden pods or extensions and those projects have to be managed and maintained.

“New normal” is a term that is used often.

But do you think that life in 2021 and beyond will ever be the same?
